The Government’s ex-national director for heart disease has said that he would not want his daughter to be treated at Leeds General Infirmary’s child cardiac unit.
Professor Sir Roger Boyle said the hospital remains “on the edge of acceptability”.
Leeds Teaching hospitals NHS Trust insisted that the unit has equivalent rates to all other centres and is not a concern.
The children’s unit was closed for 11 days and re-opened on Wednesday (10th April).
The Department of Health (DoH) said at the time that the NHS was right to look into the unit’s safety.
