To be able to bring a compensation claim in clinical negligence, proceedings must be brought within 3 years of the date of injury or three years from the date you suspected you had sustained injury.
There are exceptions for this where injuries have been suffered by a child, and the restriction date runs from their eighteenth birthday, or for those who are under the Mental Health Act 1983, when the time period doesn’t begin until they cease to be a patient within the act and their legal incapacity is removed.
